LinkedIn Learning Workplace Report 2021
Years ago, when I was a young and ambitious learning specialist, I returned to the office after an incredible learning event, completely inspired. I was so excited that I gathered my colleagues from the L&D team and, in what we now call a knowledge-sharing session, passed on everything I had learned — tools, insights, and all cool new techniques I learned.
My manager was stunned.
After the session, she pulled me aside and said: "Why did you do that? You could have kept those powerful tools to yourself, but now everyone will use them. You just created competition for yourself."
I was confused. In stressful situations, my go-to response is usually freeze — though sometimes fight kicks in too. But that’s not the point.
The point is, that moment only strengthened my belief:
The more you give, the more you get back.
A completely self-serving formula, really.
I physically can’t keep valuable knowledge to myself. We’re all in the same space, and if we don’t support each other, who will?
So today, I’m sharing the latest LinkedIn Learning Workplace Report 2021 — one of the most insightful things I’ve read lately.
My advice? Download it, turn it into a mini-presentation, and share it with your colleagues —including your HRD.
Even though, let’s be honest — I always assume everything I write is something everyone already knows.
